What was important to me was the fact I didn’t worry about my car getting stolen in the well lit lot, I didnt worry that my wife’s purse was going to get ripped off her shoulder because it was a nice location, I also like the fact I recognized the pleasant lady at the front desk who was there the last time we stayed at this Courtyard. If you want those amenities you probably arent going to find them in a mid priced hotel just off I95 in NC. Were there any nice bathrobes in the closet - no. Were the towels as fluffy as I would like - no. Were the beds as comfortable as my Temperpedic - no. It was clean, quiet and what you would expect from a Courtyard. Some of the reviews about this Courtyard were so negative that it was concerning even tho we had stayed there a few years ago and found it perfectly acceptable. I almost always stay at Marriott properties when traveling and I read reviews when choosing a place to stop. Why would someone be so rude to customers? We are Bonvoy members and chose to stay at a Marriott as we have come to know and expect high quality from the brand. When I opened the door, he handed me the sign and said, “Happy Birthday!”. When I didn’t respond fast enough, he banged again. The gentleman came up within 15 minutes and banged on the door. He stated that someone would bring one up and place it on the door. He advised that we used the sign on the door. Why was our sleep disturbed? I called the front desk and politely asked that we were allowed time to rest. At 8 am, we got another knock and it was housekeeping. At 7:30 am, we get a knock at the door by a male employee. I appreciated that and we went about our way. The gentleman did arrive from outdoors and already had my keys ready. The staff is the absolute worst! We came in late after driving several hours. The hotel is decent and in a great location. Winstead is one of the main roads in Rocky Mount.… Route 64 and Winstead, about two miles east of the intersection of I-95 and U.S. The Courtyard is conveniently located at the intersection of U.S. Along Winstead Avenue, there are many other restaurants.

In this area there is a Cracker Barrel, Outback, and Texas Steakhouse restaurants. About eight chain hotels are located in this area. The hotel is in an area called Gateway Plaza. The Courtyard is near restaurants, shopping, and other services. The pool and hot tub are handicap accessible. There is a good size work area in the room. The room is spacious, clean, and well maintained, except for the sliding balcony door. He was pleasant, courteous, and efficient. The front desk clerk alerted us that breakfast was not free. There is a restaurant on the premises for breakfast and dinner. We did not know that the breakfast was not free. We have become so accustomed to the complimentary buffet breakfasts, that have become the standard, that we were disappointed that a Courtyard did not provide this amenity.
